I have oodles to blog about — more fun stories from our trip to North Carolina; my rant against Legoland Florida; and E’s awesome sense of fashion (I’ve been collecting pictures for you).
But all of that will have to wait because I can’t keep my eyes away from this train wreck:
I still stand by my initial assessment that there are no likeable characters on “Mad Men” (well, maybe Joan. She’s pretty awesome) but the rest of them are horrible people 90 percent of the time. That still hasn’t stopped me from getting hooked on this show. The writing is just so darn good. And the clothes. Oh the clothes.
We’re on the final two episodes of Season 3. JFK has just been killed and Betty has just told Don she doesn’t love him anymore. Shit’s getting real!
I promise to be back soon. I can’t wait to see how Sally is going to handle all this. I’ve decided that she is Future E. I hope I don’t regret those words.
See you on the other side.
Do you watch Mad Men? Make your case for your favorite character (if you can avoid Season 4 and 5 spoilers!). I’ll make my case for my least favorite — Betty Draper. Could she be even colder to her children? She’s an awful person.

You are absolutely correct about 2 things: Pretty much everybody on this show is a horrible person and Betty is leaps and bounds the least likeable of all. I’ll toss a favorite character vote though for Roger Sterling. He gets most of the best lines, threw up on potential clients, and had a heart attack on his office floor while cheating on his wife. He tops all of that in season 5 though but I won’t spoil it (that entire season is pretty phenomenal, btw.) Enjoy catching up.

Sorry, this was stuck in my spam folder for some reason! But you’re right, if I had to pick the most watchable character, it’d be Roger. He’s hilarious. Plus, he has the greatest lines on the show. We’re still laughing over the law mower episode and his “I’m sure something like this has happened at another agency before” and “Just when he was getting his foot in the door.”
He’s great. Not likeable, obviously, but still great. Glad to hear he’s still got great days ahead of him. I was nervous with the heart attack phase.
I guess we’ll use these next few weeks before Homeland, Dexter and Walking Dead come back to watch Season 4.

Yes to you getting on the MM express!! Love that show, it is so good!
Agreed with Betty – she is my least favorite. She occasionally has a moment where you say to yourself “wow, she might be turning it all around” and then about 5 mins later she proves you wrong!
I love so many of them, it is hard to pick… but the character that consistently makes me laugh is Roger. In coming seasons, you’ll see more to him and I love the angle that they play with him walking the line btw being critical and worthless to the company. I’d never marry or date the guy, but I sure do love watching him onscreen!

You’re so right about Betty. Every once in awhile, usually when Don was cheating on her yet again, I’d feel bad for her. But then she does something awful like tell Sally she’s going to get fat. Watching their relationship as Sally gets older should be equal parts interesting and horrifying.
And yes, Roger is hilarious and definitely the most watchable character. Looking forward to seeing what they do with his character at the new agency!

No. We’ve never watched Mad Men. Usually I tune in to 20/20 …. or human interest stories. Real ones. Maybe I will give MM a whirl for the new season. See what all the hoopla is about.
The costume stylin is good. Looks classy. Obviously much better than these folks act huh!
If everyone (90% of the time) is so awful, horrible and mean, the title MM fits perfectly.

It’s definitely worth checking out, although I’d recommend starting at the beginning if you can. Watching the characters’ stories change (I wouldn’t necessarily say any of them have evolved much!) has been interesting!
I used to watch a lot more of newsmagazine shows but my husband hates them all so I haven’t seen them very much lately. But when I’m home alone, I love a good true-life crime story!

I am totally hooked on Mad Men too. They are all a bit crazy and the clothes are amazing. I love Joan. She has her issues, but overall, I think she is good. In upcoming seasons, there are a few more likable characters, but it gets even crazier. Enjoy!
